Very short blog, two drawings, remembering the millions of horses that gave their lives in the war.
The first is a quick sketch I did last week with a view to a larger piece, but it's simplicity worked as a sketch, so I left it alone.
The second is a drawing I did in my early days at art college, so many years ago. The drawing is one of stallion posturing and threatening a young colt over his mares and territory. The situation escalated into a fight, the upstart was defeated, retreating injured, and the old man was left bloodied but unbowed. War at it's simplest, with the least fallout.
I've photographed the stallion drawing with a poppy head I made of electrical wire. Man has made war a different animal.
Souviens-toi.
